THINGS ASSOCIATED WITH ST. PATRICK'S DAY: 1. St. Patrick's day- Is celebrated every year on March 17th in commemoration to the saint Patrick.
2. Who is St. Patrick?- Originally his name was Maewyn Succat. He changed his name to Patrick to sound more christian. Patrick believe that his calling was to convert the pagans of Ireland to christianity. He traveled throughout Ireland establishing monasteries and setting up schools and churches to aid in the conversion. Legend has it, that St. Patrick crove all the snakes out of Ireland. The snake is a pagan symbol and perhaps this sis a figurative tale explaining that he drove paganism out of Ireland. Parick's mission lasted in Ireland for thirty years. He died on March 17 in 461 A.D.
3. The Shamrock- Originally used to symbolize the Trinity. It is the national emblem of Ireland.
4. The Blarney Stone- Is a stone set in the wall of the Blarney castle. Kissing the stone is supposed to bring the kisser the gift of persuasive eloquence. (Blarney)!
5. Leprechaun- The name is derived from an old Irish word luorpan which means "little body." A leprechaun is a fairy that takes the appearance of a miniature old man. Leprechauns are solitary creatures. They spend their time making shoes and broughes. Listen for the sound of his hammer, if you can find him, he may be forced to reveal the whereabouts of the treasure. Don't turn away,even for a minute,if you do, He may vanish!
6. Rainbows- That is where you find the pot o'gold.
7. Gold- The treasure in the pot at the end of the rainbow.
DECORATIONS: Green is the scheme of things. I wouldn't want to see anybody getting pinched for not wearing green so remind everyone to wear it on the invitations. But just in case, green name tags shall protect. We can't presume that everybody knows everybody anyways,or, if they do you can't remember their names! Use shamrocks and rainbows, leprechauns and yellow gold for decorations. Use those black cauldrons found at Halloween time. They come in different sizes. Serve your food and beverages out of them.
REFRESHMENTS: The cake- Tie-dyed Cake- Frost a double layer cake with white icing. Then drop food coloring on it. Run a toothpick through it and it will look like a tie dye cake. Try mixing different shades of green by using blue and yellow.
Beverages- Fizzy Green Leprechaun Punch with Green Ice Cubes Seven-Up green food coloring lime sherbet green ice cubes
Make the green ice cubes the night before you need them. Mix Seven-up with a few drops of green food coloring and float small scoops of sherbet on it. Or you could simply mix the soda and sherbet together with the mixer. Then add the green ice cubes.
Green Punch- 1 pkg. lime Kool-Aid 1 qt. water 1/2 c. sugar 1 46 oz. canned pineapple juice 1 qt. gingerale
Mix the first four ingredients. Add the ginger-ale at the last min. so it doesn't loose it's "punch". Makes 5 qts.
Foods- Rainbow Jello- Each day mix up a color of Jell-O, starting with red. Pour a small amount into several clear plastic cups. Allow to harden and then add orange. Follow this procedure with all the other choosen colors. At the end of the week, you will have your own "rainbow in a cup". You don't even have to try to remove it from the cup. Except by eating it, that is!
Lucky Charms Snacks- 3 T. margarine or butter 25 lg. marshmallows or 31/2 c. miniature marshmallows 5 c. "Lucky Charms" brand cereal
Grease a square 8x8x2" pan. Place butter and marshmallows in large microwaveable bowl. Microwave uncovered on high. Stir after 1 min or until mixture is melted and smooth. Stir in cereal until well coated. Press mixture in the pan. Before it completely cools, cut into bars. Makes about 16 bars.
Lucky Salad- 1 reg. size Cool Whip 1 c. reg. size mandarin oranges 1 sm. can crushed pineapple 1 reg. size lime Jell-O 1 16 oz. cottage cheese
Mix all ingredients together. Chill and serve. This recipe is easy to substitute low fat ingredients.
Devilishly Green Eggs- 6 hardboiled eggs mustard to taste sweet pickle juice to taste salt and sugar mayonaise yellow and blue food coloring
Lengthwise,slice the eggs in half and scoop out the yolk. Mix all of the ingredients tog with the yolk. Smash with a fork until smooth. Spoon back into the white egg half.
*Note: Bryers makes rainbow ice cream and Keebler makes rainbow vanilla wafers. This would make a nice desert as simple as it is. Top off with chocolate coin candy. Served with your "Tye-dyed cake."

Within the whole facepainting kit there is facepainting, nail polish, make-up and /or tattoos for activities.
Games- There are no limits to which or how many games we can play. Just remembrer your time. Adult assistance is requested. As sometimes, two games are played at the same time. Some prizes are included.
GAMES WITH MISS PRISS: Lemon Derby- Each player uses a stick to roll a lemon to the finish line. There's a twist, unlike a ball, a lemon does not roll true. Harder to keep on course than you think! Round two; use and orange. This may be a little bit easier.
Chin-to-chin- The object is to pass an orange tucked under the chin from player-player. The first group to pass along-through the whole line WINS!
Rainbow Toss- Test your skolls by tossing golden nugget bags into a pot at the end of the rainbow. Every player WINS a rainbow sticker for playing.
Ring Toss Game- Game of skill. Toss rings onto poles of various distances. Each pole has a prize o top.
Feed Miss Priss- Lollipop Drop- While the child is blindfolded, He or She will attempt to find the opening for Miss Priss's mouth on the board game. Feed her the lollipop, you keep the prize.
Pin the Nose, Mustache on Miss Priss- While blindfolded, the child will attempt to get the target by placing a nose and then a mustache on "Miss Priss" board game.
Coin Walk- The object of the game is to walk a certain distance with a candy coin placed on the tip of your shoe. When they finally succeed to the finish line they get to keep the candy.
ACTIVITIES TO MAKE OR DO: Hunting Outside- Go to a place where there is grass. You will be surprised by actually finding four leaf clovers. If that is not possible, make some paper ones and throw those out in the yard. Maybe drop some gold coins too. But don't tell them! While you are outside, search for the pot of gold. Hide a couldron under a bunch of leaves or something. Fill the cauldron with their party favor treat bags.
Panning for Gold- Hide pennies and other treats in the sand box. Provide strainers, spoons, shovels and other tools to sift thru the sand to find the treasures.
Leprechaun Hats to Make- Use the green colored vanilla wafers for the bottom of the hats. Spread some frosting or cream cheese, top off with a green gum drop or a green maraschino cherry.
EXTRA GAMES TO PLAY: Irish Hot Potato- Everybody is standing or sitting in a circle. One player has a potato. When the music starts, toss the "hot potato" to another player, this continues until the music stops. Whoever is left holding the potato when the music goes off is out of the game.
Gold, Gold, Who's got the Gold?- A child is chosen to be the Leprechaun and hides her eyes as a gold coin is given to another child to hide on his person. The Leprechaun has three chances to guess who has hidden the gold coin.
Shamrock Relay- Divide the children into teams. The first person of a team takes two shamrocks and lays one of them out on the floor. The child steps on the first shamrock and then places the secoond shamrock in front of them. The child steps on the second shamrock, reaches back and picks up the first shamrock and then places that shamrock in front of them. Continue to the end of the course and then run back and tag the next team member. The first team for all the members to finish WINS!
Musical Shamrocks- This game is similar to musical chairs. Everyone stands in a circle. As the music plays you pass a paper shamrock around the circle. When the music stops, the person holding the shamrock is out. Continue untill all the Hes and Shes stand alone.
Coin Blow- Every participant is given a straw and a coin. The object of the game is to be the first person to successfully blow the coin all the way to the finish line.
