I have so much love and respect for the art of clowning.
It is my obligation as a representative for the clown "kingdom", to present my character in a professional, neat clean attire. I have been blessed with the ability to design, create and construct costumes. Therefore, I do so. A good clown doesn't need a plethora of costumes like MP. A good clown does need more than one. As a backup and to give that oh-so-fresh feeling that we can get with new clothes. It supports my clowns' character. It supports me, it supports the folks that encounter a clown. In a positive fashion. If clowns are positive, and endeover to contribute a positive experience to others, then it's up to us, the professional clown, to see to it that our appearance has a standard of excellence. Including make-up application and behaviour. It is up to us to re-impress and re-educate the public that have been frightened by ignorant clown "posers".
Do we realize the power and the impact behind what we do?
People experience us. Clowns are memory makers. Just look, an encounter with a clown if only for a moment ,the memory of that single moment is enough to carry on for years. We're in the family photo album, the child's baby book, video cameras, pictures on the wall. Grandma's wallet. They see us and they run. Hopefully, not the other way! |
