INVITATIONS: Fun invitation ideas for a Cave-Clown Dinosaur Theme Party include writing them in the shape of dinosaurs, dinosaur footprints, write them on a large rock, put them inside a plastic egg with a small plastic dinosaur.
DECORATIONS: Natural earth colors like greens and browns. The refreshment ideas here are terrific for a creative table setting.
REFRESHMENTS: "Volcano cake"- Bake a bundt cake. Frost with chocolate because it is brown. Sprinkle some crumbled Oreos on top for that mountain dirt effect. This is the cool part, fill the empty center of the "volcano" with red and orange colored pudding. Let it flow down the sides. Dye some coconut green and put a lot of it around the base of your cake to look like grass. Add a few small plastic dinosaurs down around the grass and/or the Vanilla Godzilla Eggs.
Beverages- Label your prehistoric punch with a name like "swamp water" for green punch and "liquid Lava" for red punch. Keep your drinks cold with a few little dinosaurs frozen in ice chunked up. These are the dinosaurs from the polar ice caps!
Foods- Label your vegetable tray for the "herbivores" and then your brontosaurus burgers for the "carnivores". Include some clip art. You may use the ones on this page.
Vanilla Godzilla Eggs- 2 c. white vanilla chips 1 16 oz. can of vanilla frosting 1/2 c. decorator sugar or cake decors
In a saucepan, melt the chips on low heat stirring constantly. Or the microwave. Remove from heat then stir in the frosting. Blend well. Refrigerate 1-2 hr. until firm. Place decorator sugar on a small plate. With hands, shape frosting mixture into 1-11/2 egg shapes. Roll in the sugar to coat. Place in paper candy cups or around the base of your volcano cake. Keep them in the fridge. This is a fun activity for the birthday child before the party. It can even serve as a fun activity inside the house with the guests on a cold day.
Brontosaurus Eggs- hard boiled eggs ground sausage, turkey or hamburger crushed saltine crackers
Hard boil the eggs, crack and peel. Flatten your meat into patties and wrap around each egg. Beat one raw egg thoroughly in a small bowl. Then, dip each meat wrapped egg in the raw egg mixture. Next roll each egg in crushed saltine crackers. Covering completely. Arrange the eggs in a shallow baking dish and bake 25-30 min, until meat is no longer pink.

Styracusaurus Toss- Game of skill. Toss rings onto the Styracusaurus horns
EXTRA ACTIVITIES TO MAKE OR DO: Dinosaur Egg Hunt- Miss Priss will bring as many plastic eggs as you would like. For .25 ea., every egg holds inside a baby dinosaur and his lunch. ( A piece of candy.) A fun hide-n-seek game to play after Miss Priss has "left-the-building."
Dinosaur Tattoos- Recieve a pkg. of 20 assorted dinosaur theme tattoos. Removable, for boys and girls. $5.00 per package.
Dino Egg Discovery- Cover little plastic dinosaurs with homemade "play dough" just like they are in an egg or in the earth. Bake. Let the kids break them apart. Maybe do big chunks at a time with several hidden inside the dough like a fossil.
Fossil Dig- Bury some bones out in the sand box. You could use dog bone treats or real bones. Or just hide the bones from the Dino Egg Discovery. Give them an assortment of tools and have fun.
Volcanos- Make a mound of dampened sand around a Dixie cup. Add some baking soda and vinegar and watch it gurgle up.
Pinata dinosaur Egg- Paper mache over a balloon using liquid starch and newspaper strips. When dry, pop the balloon. Cut a small flap-like door in the paper mache for the pinata fillers to enter. Close the door and cover the opening with masking tape. Spray paint the egg. Maybe speckle it with a second color. Here is the real kicker...play soccer with the egg. Kick it till it opens! As they continue kicking, the fillers will scatter all over. No hands allowed.
Tunnels and Caves- Collect some big boxes from the furniture or grocery store. More boxes the merrier and the bigger the better. Open both ends of the boxes and attach them together with duck tape like tunnels and caves. Cover the entrance with a blanket. Add some twists and turns maybe some dead ends. While the cavekids are inside, shake the boxes up a bit like Mr. Dino would. Don't forget to growl! Supply some crayons. The cavekids might like to add some cave drawings.
EXTRA GAME IDEAS TO PLAY: Bone Drop- Have the little cave boys and girls stand up and take turns dropping doggy bone treats into a container placed in front of them on the ground. The one with the most in WINS! You might have to remind them though, they are not cookies they are dog bones!
Egg Stomp- Make dino shoes out of cereal and tissue boxes. X marks the spot with two cuts. The cavekids put them on and play the "Balance the egg on a spoon race".
Hatch the Dino Egg- Two teams. One balloon per player. The two teams line up and the object of the game is for each player from each team to try to sit and hatch or (POP) their balloon. The first team to have hatched all the balloons win the prizes inside the balloons.
"Dino, Dino Where's Your Bone?"- A cave kid plays the part of the dinosaur. S/he will sit in a chair with their back to the others. A bone is put under their chair. While the dinosaur is turned around with his/her eyes closed, someone will sneak up and steal the bone and hide it somewhere on his person. Then, everyone will sing; "Dinosaur, Dinosaur, Where's your bone?", Somebody has stole it from your home. Guess who it might be. You?" The dinosaur has three chances to guess who took it. Sometimes, it is left under the chair. If the dinosaur guessed right, then he gets to do it again. If he guesses wrong then the person who has the bone gets the turn as dinosaur.
