INVITATIONS: Pop on over! Inflate a balloon but don't tie it off. Inscript your invitation directly on it, then deflate it. Or, insert your invitation inside. Then pop it, I mean drop it in an envelope.
DECORATIONS: Balloons of course and lots of them! Drop them loose on the floor and/or helium columns at thresholds and or in the corners. Archways are really nice if you have the space. Balloons anchored to the mailbox and other turning points make the best landmarks. I have seen paper ware with balloons on it at the dollar store. Perhaps your paper ware in all the colors. Cups one color and plates another. Freeze some water balloons and put them in or around the punch bowl. They can also be placed around the fruit and veggy tray to keep things cool. Just like your party is going to be. Cool!
REFRESHMENTS: The Cake- First of all, balloons are not food. Inform the children there is no such thing as balloon gum or cake or pie. But if you want a terrific idea for a cake to eat, try this; Bake a sheet cake. Place several little round snack cakes on top and frost each one in a variety of colors. Tie the "balloons" together with licorice strings. To minimize your time and the mess of cake serving, try baking the batter in flat bottom wafer cones. Don't fill up too high.
BEVERAGES: Serve pop!
FOODS: Use any of the following for the balloons; sliced bananas, sliced oranges, cucumbers, or round crackers. Use cheese spread in a can for the string.
Wiener People- Slit hot dogs as shown. When the hot dog is boiled, the slits open up to form arms and legs. Add faces using cheese or mustard.

One child will start the game by saying "I'm going on a balloon trip and I'm going to take my friend along." The next player must repeat what the first person said and add something, and so on around the table. If someone forgets or can't think of something to add he/she is out of the game. The last person left in the game WINS!
Launch Balloons- (Illegal in some states.) At the end of the party, have the birthday child release as many helium balloons as they are old. Involve the guests by having them write a little wish-note, attaching it to the strings of the balloons. Then set them free!
EXTRA GAME IDEAS TO PLAY: Balloon Friend Blend- This is a nice party opener to get everyone acquainted. Individually, write the names of half your party guests on a piece of paper. Insert each name inside of a balloon. Blow up and tie off. Throw all of the balloons up into the air and have the other half of the guests without their names inside, catch a balloon and pop it. They are to read the name they have discovered and search out that person to introduce themselves. After a few moments of chatting, the person that discovered their new "balloon friend" must now introduce their new friend to another person at the party. Continue until everyone has met and become acquainted.
Pray and Tell- Write some questions down on strips of paper. Perhaps questions about the guest of honor like "what is their favorite color?" Or, "what is their middle name?" Place each questions inside an inflated balloon. Each balloon then goes into bag ???". Each player takes a turn to pop the balloon and answer the question. If the answer is incorrect, they shall reach into the other bag "OH NO!" and remove a balloon where a note will be inside. Pop the balloon to reveal the command "cluck like a chicken", or "make a funny face." They have the option to complete the task or sit it out and cheer the rest of the players on. When all the balloons are gone the game is over.
Balloon Test- Write challenges on strips of paper and insert them into inflated balloons. Challenges such as; "walk like a monkey" or "stand on your head." Toss all the balloons onto the party floor and have the children try to pop them. When you hear a "pop", everyone must stop the game and the person that popped the balloon must perform the command. This is a good time to pass out the party favors as prizes for playing and performing.
Hero Game- Supplies: inflated balloon, bath towel and a bucket.
Pretend that an inflated balloon is an injured victim and you and your partner are the emergency rescue squad. Each of you take an end of the towel (stretcher) holding it taught and hurry the patient (balloon) on the towel (stretcher) to the hospital (bucket). Remember your not allowed to touch or drop your patient! This may be played in pairs or teams. The first to get to the hospital (bucket) WINS!

If he succeeds, "it" tries another number. If he fails, the number becomes "it".
